Betty
My journey into the world of scrapbooking started back in high school, sparked by a thoughtful Christmas gift from my grandmother; an all-inclusive scrapbooking kit. That moment marked the beginning of a lifelong passion, transforming the way I capture and cherish memories.
For the past ten years, I have concentrated on advancing my career in hospitality field, eventually achieving a balance that let me prioritize scrapbooking. As a Bay Area native, Creative Escape in Los Gatos became my go-to scrapbooking store, where I’ve attended many crops and found my crafting community. In 2023, when Creative Escape announced a Design Team call, I seized the opportunity and applied. My 12×12 layouts stood out amongst the other applicants and I was selected to be on the Design Team and build a meaningful relationship with Nina, the owner of Creative Escape (CE).
2024 is a milestone year for me—I’ve recently gotten married, purchased my first home, and I am launching a podcast with my crafty best friend! As an enthusiast in the crafting world, I am eager to give our audience an insider’s perspective of what happens behind the scenes in the crafting industry. We’ll be exploring trade shows, conducting interviews with creatives, and offering product reviews. This is just the beginning of what we have in store.
Nina
Crafting has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, starting when I was just five years old with cross-stitch lessons from my grandma. I grew up in a lively Greek-American household in the Midwest, where family-owned businesses like restaurants and a soccer shop were the norm. Eventually, my journey took me to the Bay Area, where I spent time teaching middle school math, before embracing motherhood with my four boys.
It’s been over fifteen years since I made California my home, and during this time, I’ve become deeply embedded in the crafting community. I own Creative Escape, a paper craft retail store in Los Gatos, California. I also co-own Crafters Home, a network of local craft store owners across the US, Canada, the UK, and Australia.
I love meeting and collaborating with the thoughtful, enthusiastic people I’ve met in our industry– as much as a I love to create things. I hope to share those experiences with everyone at home, through this podcast.
